Training elbow strikes

Anyone have favorite resources - online, vids, descriptions, etc., on training elbows?
Now that I have a heavy bag accessible I want to bring my elbows up to par.

There are two types of elbows I really like. The first is the one using the double-hip where the elbow is directed to the sternum or shoulder joint. This is demonstrated brilliantly by Dave Briggs on his website videos at www.davebriggs.com

The second type of elbow is the kind that Dennis Martin teaches. It whips up and around, out of nowhere and carries great snap and power. The target for this one is the head and neck and it is a VERY potent strike. I believe there are some older seminar clips of Dennis performing his elbow on Lee Morrison's site at www.urbancombatives.com

I have a theory that elbopws are usually thrown from TOO far away from the targets and because of natural body movements end up curving and landing with reduced power..

Reallistically for progress the least you are going to need is a padman who is going to move, push you, and give you feedback. You can throw elblows on thai pads in various combinations and in conjunction with other techniques (i.e try left hook, downward right elbow and then knee etc.). Try with padman circling, retreating and advancing on you.

Also consider looking at :

-how to use elbows from single neck-tie / clinch.
-how to throw elbows from mount, side mount, kneeride, northsouth position and so on. It can be useful to take a bag off it's mount and lay it on the ground for this.

since my hand has been out of action i've been training elbows a lot.
my current favourite delivery is to step past the bag/target (the way that Dave T does with the slap in a video on John Skillens site) and pile drive the elbow straight into the target.

I haven't got a clip, but I've been clipped by it

Moral of the story - don't ever volunteer for Peter C to demo a technique on.

Jeff, the pointers to the vids were extremely helpful.
All, good stuff. I realize one problem is I've been trying to get elbows to head height, and that doesn't seem (from the vids and comments) to be necessary.
This is good stuff.

Eld, finding a Thai coach to work with me a bit is on my list .
Going in full on for MT is not on my agenda, but a few sessions working on specific techniques could be.

It might be a good idea to learn where the best places to plant an elbow on somebody is that helps in "affectively" shutting the other person down, as well as how to have power behind it. IE temple, sternum, ear, mandible, ect...

I feel the elbow to the head especially if the guy is taller than me lacks power, it seems to clip more than go through the target, i think your better off doing a Peter C elbow, into the solar plexus, im sure you will still get the desired effect.
