Elbow question
Hello Nick,
Do you deliver your elbow with the hand open or fist closed?
Kempo taught me to deliver them with the fist closed and the FMA have taught me to use an open and articulated hand. Personally I find the fist closed stronger and the open hand more flexible and I am curious as to other people's experiences.
Thanks
Andrew

Re: Elbow question
I'm in the same boat as you mate. My karate training was always "close the fist as tight as you can" and the FMA training I've done is the opposite.
I don't think it makes much of a difference to be honest...I've seen people opened up in both types of training with accidental conctact by both variations.

Re: Elbow question
Have to admit it has been quite a while since I hit anyone hard with an elbow...
Anyway, I was taught by my teacher to have the hand closed but keep it a little loose for speed. More important is the alignment I guess.
All the best for the New Year Nick. 2009 was very purifying here so 2010 is going to be good.

Re: Elbow question
Mate,
I haven't been as excited for a New Year to start for a long time as I am to get this one underway. Big plans are afoot...
Don't forget to post your goals on here so we can hold you accountable.
