Re: self-protection book
Is this book going to also be used as a weapon? You know....Like Kramer (from Seinfeld) and his coffee table book.

Re: self-protection book
It's being shopped by my agent at the present time.
The process is long as you're not allowed to do multiple submissions. In other words, the logical thing would be to send the manuscript and/or enquiry letter out to every potential publishing house but that is taboo in the industry apparently.
So, you send a letter to Roedale for example and it takes anywhere from 1 to 6 months to get a reply back. If that's a no, you pick your next likely candidate and go from there. It can take a few years and, once they say yes, it can take longer than that to get to the presses and distributed.

To hell with the book...hit them with the table.

Re: self-protection book
Why don't you just do it yourself, Nick? Nowadays, you can self publish and even get it listed on Amazon.com with an ISBN number!
Re: self-protection book
I look forward to seeing this Nick.

Re: self-protection book
I'll self publish if I have to but it doesn't carry the same cachet as one that's been picked up by a publishing house apparently.
Auto biography...maybe...still too many people who'd get in trouble methinks.

I think people forget this point when asking for books to be written that are auto biographical in nature.

Did you ever read Howard Marks' biography? He used his court records for research so that he didn´t accidently mention any crimes that he hadn´t been charged with...

Re: self-protection book
Well, if someone is that willing to reveal himself to his kids (who may have looked at him as a good man and always being so) more power to him! Maybe money is more important.
Hopefully his book makes enough money to carry him when he loses his job also.

A job? I think you might be thinking about a different Howard Marks!

Re: self-protection book
Ok...I never heard of the guy. But it sort of makes my point. Marks is a high profile criminal and he made some cash off of that fact by writing a book. But his life was no secret (so to speak). For someone like Nick, (not to say he has anything to hide) or anyone else on an internet forum to write about their life might be a bit too revealing. I think that may be why some people can't understand the reluctance of some to write such books.
Anyway...I think this got off track from the thread; unimportant stuff really
