the next installment of "the Gladiators"
Dave, not to rush you or anything - but when is the next chapter of your excellent series "the gladiators" appearing on geoff's site, or even here? I thoroughly enjoyed the first one on William Miller, have to say the whole subject of legendary warriors from the past is of great interest to me, I find it really stimulates my imagination reading about them.
Do you choose them according to personal preference ie just the ones you like best, or is there a common thread or theme uniting them? Who's the next one?!
Ed.

Re: the next installment of "the Gladiators"
Thanks Ed.. didnt realise anybody was still interested.. I will be mor ethan happy to send some more in.
I havent really got a method or theme for picking them, but I do like to mention the 'less well known' ones, as most people for example will have heard of say Jack Dempsey the former great boxing champ, but how many will have heard of, say, the tales of 'Johnny Butterworth' (known as Jonnie Butt).. he was a former British Middleweight champ and real character..
so yes I will dig out a couple more tales of the 'old school' guys
thanks for asking

Re: the next installment of "the Gladiators"
I was really into them as well Dave -- i assumed you had got bored with posting!
Re: the next installment of "the Gladiators"
not bored mate .. just that no-one really posted about them and asked for others so I thought the interest had died..
I will put some more on soon..
first one will probably be GEORGE STEADMAN..

Re: the next installment of "the Gladiators"
Hi Dave,
I was the same mate, read the first one with great interest, kept checking back for updates and just assumed you didn't have the time.
If a few of us are posting that way, there must be loads of others that feel the same way, gotta be!!
Please, please, please - let's see some more!!
Paul

Re: the next installment of "the Gladiators"
Dave, any chance of doing an idepth one of goshinkwai and the Warfields? Maybe one of Mickey Gould, as well? I quite enjoyed how he got into training the slouches in Hollywood.
Re: the next installment of "the Gladiators"
I would be happy to do one on the goshinkwai mate and the Warfields.. problem being knowing where to STOP each installment.. there so much to say
