Pinnacle of combat
I saw some kids fighting this morning on the ground and made me think of this.
Is "ground and pound" or "take down and stamp/kick" really the pinnacle of combat?
Its used by school kids, thugs and even is quite favoured in the "Ultimate fighting championship".
Is it one of the most effective methods or just the simplest?

I dont think its either really mate..
Thery are all one on one stuff which isnt the pinnacle.. good solid mobile impact work should be your mainstay... dont sacrifice a standing posture for a floor one ever if you can..
this is not meant as anything against MMA type combat, but they go to the floor too soon for real fights, because they can control the fight better when on the ground than 'dancing' around upright.
Its also a very natural method for humans to drag enemies to the floor...Bipeds are so vulnerable lying down...
remember that for a biped to get upright requires a lot more moving and balance than say a dog which can regain its feet very quickly.
a dog with one leg missing is still many times more agile than a man with TWO,.. and a man with ONE leg is not very good at all at being mobile and agile..
as a middle food chain brainy 'ape' we need to ensure our 'enemies' lose mobility, thats why we feel vulnerable on our backs if the enemy is standing
and vice versa if they are down.
our hands are more or less just as useful regardless of the posture being upright or ground.. so we like the floor for that.
If you are faced with one guy in a very empty space and have trained for the ground, then you wont worry as much when you do go to the floor.
so ultinmate an dpinnacle is not really correct...
after all a one armed man with no legs in a wheel chair toting a Magnum 44 will be a lot more deadly than any MMA/Cage champion
