Well I applied for government funding for my SIA door supervisior course and I have been successfull, booked onto a course at the end of the month and then applying for my license after xmas when u have said up the cash.

Still doing the retail security stuff in house as a CCTV operator but the store is really quiet and can be liking watch paint dry.

Bit of a jump between the two jobs but I'm eager to learn,I'm hoping to get on a decent team and soak up all their knowledge.

If all goes to pot and I get constant kickings then I still have a license for three years and I maybe pick up some work at gigs.

Still planning on keeping the CCTV job but supplementing with door work, never thought I would be going down this road but here I go

I will try and do a review of the course for others tempted to do it

I'm hoping to add a bit of bodyweight before I start and get in some grappling training to help escorting the punters

More soon

I applied via the individual learning account but I think this is a Scottish based service, surely there must be a down south evqualiant? This funding covers the course only I'll need need to save the penny's for the license itself

First day if the course tomorrow, excited ans nervous, hopefully be the start of something good

The course all signed off is something i have heard of happening but I didn't know if it was true, some of the security I have met in my time have been able to speak/write a word of English so I always thought something was up there

First day has gone pretty good apart from getting lost to the place that is!
Our teacher is an ex para, door man and pub owner and seems to know his stuff, bloody big guy as well!
Lots if stuff covered today mostly the boring legal shit, worked on the physical stuff as well for a wee bit, these consisted of basic escort holds, escapes from wrist grabs and front strangles, really basic stuff, not sure how much I would use.
Interesting point one of the guys who introduced himself as a shit hot martial artist really struggles with the basic holds, don't know what that was about?
Quite a few guys my size and one or two 'bouncers'.
The size of the instructor made me think what I would do to get a man his size out if a pub and I think it would be a nightmare without loads if bodys and a dose of anaesthesia

More to come
