Daito Ryu
I keep hearing about Daito Ryu. Apparently I keep performing Daito Ryu type techniques. And yet I know nothing about it.
Anywhere I can do some learning??

Re: Daito Ryu
Yes you do some Daito-Ryu mate.. I have seen it..
it was a branch of 18th and 19th century Ju-Jutsu formulated by a very hard instructor named TAKEDA.. it was the fore runner of Aiki Jutsu which became Aikido..
I believe that your original Tai Jitsu methods add influences from the Daito Ryu. hence you 'doing it occasionally
see you're that good you can do stuff you dont know you can do

Ah but is he that good that he doesn't do the stuff that he knows he does do when he doesn't do it without knowing.
So THAT's where the flicky wrist knacker comes from?

Re: Daito Ryu
Have You tried to google it?
Daito ryu [aiki jutsu] is a style of Japanese traditional MA (koryu bujutsu). Some say it's one of the oldest styles, founded by prince Shinra Saburo Minamoto Yoshimitsu (1056-1127), which I see highly unlikely. Daito ryu is also known under the name Takeda ryu. Skipping all history and lineage, one of the most notable students of Takeda Sokaku, one of the Grandmasters, was Ueshiba Morihei, who, based on his studies, founded his own style, Aikido. So, if You've seen Aikido, You pretty much have an idea what Daito ryu looks like. Having a lot in common (circular movements, emphasis on throws and joint locks), there are however some differences between those styles: inclusion of hand strikes to set up throws for one, and combat pilosophy - where Aikido only imitates, Daito ryu goes full force. Ideally at least.

I'll even pay the postage. It's not likely to be much.
