Thoughts on these clips?

OK, forget the film hype, and the allegations of it all being some kind of pyramid selling money-making scam..... What do you feel of the style used?
There's lots of torso movement, whipping elbows around. Lots of head butts.
Looks cool to me, but not very effective outside of a film. I just can't see why you'd take the best human body weapons of all, the hands, and then put them on your head.
Unless Simple Simon says so, of course.
Interesting to watch though!

Re: Keysi
Apart from the very good marketing and packaging.
I would agree with Brian about the lack of hand use.
I think most fights start at punching range.
Some of the techniques look fairly difficult to perform, and not natural.
What I mean is the upward type of elbows whilst keeping your hands on your head!!!
Looks very impressive though.
Not for me, but Better than a lot of stuff.

Re: Keysi
~IMHO Mode on~
total nonsense
except the headbutts/ elbows to the face and bits of standup clinch transitions- which is not unique to their "system"
the rest, im afraid, is absolute arse gravy... on toast
in a word: dogshite
if the producers of batman were so pleased with the keysi method why was it so cunningly edited out or covered over in the film?
~IMHO mode off~
next?

Re: Keysi
Further to that.
I enjoyed the Batman movie, but the fight scenes (as in ALL Batman films) were rubbish.
Seriously, you can't se whats going on at all.

Come on guys, why didn't you get it?
I am trying to be diplomatic about it, but it does seem like they have invented something purely to be different and make money.
Isn't it strange that people feel the need to pad their training with pointless techniques??

Exactly... very annoying... and i cant help but suspect that who ever was incontrol of the final edit thought it looked like poo poo
I did like the scene at the end of MI3 that was Keysi inspired I believe-
but there is a reason why Tom Cruises character is throwing them elBOWS in such a whacky way with his hands glued to his forehead...
...there is a bomb blowing up inside his forehead!
human being= two arms, two legs + one head
there just arent that many ways to skin a cat
what you can do against an unresisting compliant partner is far, FAR, FAR greater in range and diversity than what you can do when someone is really going for you
- I can show you "flowery- spinning- monkey- wanks- the- reluctant- crocodile" fist of shaolin kung fu if you attack me with a gay punch and then just stand there and wait politely for me to get my freak on
the harder the opponent resists and the more they fight back:
the greater a genuine threat they become
the more of a genuine threat they pose:
the more we (human beings in a fight) go back to the same core skills/movements
sorry, its not like me to be mean about other peoples training styles but that KFM promo video said that this style was built on the streets and is therefore street effective- HAHAHAHA!-
yes, if that street is "compliance street" in the middle of "politeattackerville", Arizona.
HOW does martial arts have this unique capacity to make people take their common snese and flush it down the loo?

Re: Keysi
how many replies so for are basing their opinion on the video clips provided? and how many have trained in KFM.
I trained in it for 6 weeks training with Andy Norman and his instructors, I didnt keep it up because I didnt think it was making me a any more of an effective fighter than my Jujitsu training, it was an effective fighting system that would make anyone more able to defend themselves in the street against an attacker.
i didn't like their attitude about other M/As it was like all over arts where obsolete and stuck in the dark ages, only KFM was a M/A for the 21st century.
the good thing about it was, it was serious and the classes were well organised and intense, it was very close quarter ( although we also did BJJ, and stick fighting)
lots of multiple attack training and training in strange environments, I remember rolling around on the toilet floor thinking I can smell piss
it was OK, better than a lot of places I've trained.

Re: Keysi
It makes sense if your wearing boxing gloves and actually want to hurt someone
Head buts aren't the be and end all, they expose your most valuable body part to violence.
I thought it was funny in the video how Keysi was recommended to them by a "stunt man ju jitsu world champion" (whatever that is- BJJ, sport ju jitsu?).
I don't get it
You could always go one better and tape your hands to a piece of wood and then to your feet or would that be getting silly I'm joking, KFM looks interesting and oneday I would like to try it

In seriousness.
Mickey would you say it was actually effective? I don't mean the training scenarios, I mean the actual methods employed.

Re: Keysi
Light fantastic, you are correct I didnt read it carefully if the comments are based on those clips then I apologies,
si5 again I apologies, I thought people were making a decision on KMF based on those 2 clips.
Jan it was effective against Jo Public, I took along my Jujitsu instructor for a class, the KFM instructor moved in with a pensatack (spelt wrong)) move, which is a sort of move where you close the distance with the hands on head position, he just paried the elbows and moved to the side it blow the technique out of the window.
if you get caught up and fight their fight then you will lose, but against a opponent who can move and knows his stuff it won't work.
its horses for courses, a well trained KFM man will look impressive but so will a TKD exponent or Thia boxer, its how they fair against a man who can fight that counts
please remember my opinion is only based on training with them for a short time, I don't want to misrepresent myself as an expert on them.

Hi mate,
I never really understood it. Some of the drills we did were combinations at three different levels for example 1) 5 or 6 punches at the head, 2) 5 or 6 punches at the body and then 3) 5 or 6 punches at the knee. They are done in quick succession like 1),2),3),2),1).
This was just one element. It is a good aerobic workout, but not best for your knees IMO and not that practical IMO i.e. I can find a better use for my time, by doing something more RBSD based. Some of the punches a little wierd too, like the hook.
I have done Karate, Thai, juijuitsu, etc. and I always 'got it' on the first lesson. When I was doing this I was always waiting for the penny to drop, but it never did. I suppose I felt like I was wasting my time.
I cannot slag the whole martial art off as I only trained at one place for six weeks, but that was my experience.
Incidently, I also used to read 'Keysi Corner' articles in Martial Arts Illustrated every month. I can honestly say I never understood one single article. I have also got a long Keysi article in BUDO - Blackbelt Magazine, which I don't understand either. They just don't seem to say anything.
Quite honestly, it is still a mystery to me.
Interesting thread this.

Thanks Mate.
Sounds very strange!
I have heard all the comments before about them being a bit culty etc.
does that stem from sycophants? or do the instructors encourage a closed house?

Re: Keysi
I'm with Ricardo on this one., I have read loads of articles by keysi instructors and never really understood what they are on about.
What i have never read or seen clearly explained is the principles of the system.
