Rader Chest Pulls
Hi Dave
Can't remeber exactly where i heard about these but they are reported to be better than pullovers for rib cage expansion, i was thinking of combining 20 rep deadlifts with them (i can't squat just now) but i can't seem to find decent information on how to do them, any ideas or do you think the pullover is an adequate exercise for the task?
Thanks

Re: Rader Chest Pulls
Radar chest pulls are normally associated with breathing squats.
After heavy breathing squats (generally 20 rep high weight) deep breaths are taken in as you hold a door jam or a bar and expand your rib cage once again breathing deep and heavy (if i remember them correctly).
Many do pullovers instead because they believe they accomplish the same thing, it is the breathing that is important I think. However this was used to expand the ribcage which was said to be ineffective unless you were very young...20 or so. You may check writings by Stuart McRobert.

Re: Rader Chest Pulls
Thanks Tommy-P thats a fair answer.. I personally prefer the pullovers because of the fact you move.. with the Rader style, its almost isometric..
but Perry Rader did realise that results could be got at home by doing breathing squats in front of the mantlepiece then using the same mantlepiece to work the ribcage
thanks for the question

Re: Rader Chest Pulls
Does it matter if the pullovers are done with bent or straight arms?9(http://www.muscleandstrength.com/exercises/dumbbell-pullover.html), what do you reckon of this type 20 rep program Dave?
