Kicks designed for the street
Hello Dave,
i just wanna talk about street kicks that means in my opinion low kicks with footwear.
I know that you suggest kicks mainly as follow-up moves and from french Savaux & Chausson.
But what kicks could be a fightstopper or maybe you can call it a Terry O'Neill with street-kicks instead of oriental high-kicks. ;-)
So i think the most usefull kicks are:
1. Foot to shin kick or cross shin kick - very, very painful
2. Stabbing Kick to Groin - fast, aggressive and you need only accuracy
and not that much power.
3. Chopping low round kick - hm, works for me the best when used as a
counter
4. Piston Side stamp - right on the kneecap can result in a broken leg
5. Front forward stamp - passable but the opponant have to stand right in
your front, maybe better for heavier lads like Gary Spiers...
Most of the kicks i list here i have took from your post at the Geoff Thompson Forum.
I would appreciate your thoughts on that subject.
Thank you
Cheers Julian

Re: Kicks designed for the street
I think you have the right kicks in there mate.. the TRAINING of them is the problem..
firstly seperate kicks in to openers, stoppers and counters, and you will see some kicks can be both, but need different APPLICATIONS, which means different ways of training them.
also never forget a kick STARTS when the non-kicking foot is placed, and finishes when the KICKING foot is placed.. it isnt just the impact with the opponent that needs study and training nor is it just the impact that is actually the kick.. its the whole movement from thought to follow on

Re: Kicks designed for the street
Hi Mister Dave and the friends:
And what about rear kicks? When grabbed from behind a kick to the knee or fork can work. Of course that scratching the shin and stepping on the instep is great, but I talk about rear kicks,
I know that this kick is dangerous for balance, so I would try to grab some fixed object to keep myself well balanced (a step, a wall, I dunno).
What do you think m Nister Dave?

Re: Kicks designed for the street
May I just ask if savatauex strikes are worthwhile and can they be finishings attacks in the way a good thai kick to the thigh etc can disable someone? I imagine they are good due to people not expecting such a kick to the shins with savataux strikes and if I don't have any clogs to hand, would a sturdy boot give the desired result?
