Dropping weight but keeping size.
Hi Dave,
I'm in the process of getting ready for holiday time. Four weeks and counting.
I figure on dropping about another 7 - 10lbs but I need to make sure it's not muscle I'm losing...I'm not exactly huge as you know but there's a bit I could lose round my abs (like everyone else I suppose) . My problem is what's the best exercise regime and diet to ensure that I keep and develop muscle and just cut fat?
I went up to just under 160lbs for the grading. I'm currently at about 150ish after losing quite a bit this last week. Thought I'd come to you because you know me and you know what I'm working with... or against.
thanks again
Chris

Re: Dropping weight but keeping size.
woops sorry Chris... I genuinely thought I had answered this one mate
anyway other than a sensible diet the best TYPE of short term exercise regime is HIGH RESISTANCE AEROBICS
not long slow walks .. but high repitions stuff with some resistance... weighted pack hill sprints.. high rep weights etc..
think of a lumberjack.. using say a 20lbs axe for 8 hours will harden and define muscles and burn off subcutaneous fat
but its a SHORT TERM thing... 4-6 weeks MAX

Re: Dropping weight but keeping size.
Chop down trees, skip and jump.
Don't forget to sleep all night and work all day . I wouldn't worry so much about wearing womens clothing and hanging round in bars though.

Re: Dropping weight but keeping size.
what about lots of squats and dead-lifts? The leg muscles are so large, they use lots of energy (and fat).
Re: Dropping weight but keeping size.
They could actually stimulate the metabolism to GAIN weight... good normally but not just for what Chris wants (needs) right now
Re: Dropping weight but keeping size.
10 stone 9lbs last night.
Another 9lbs to go in three and a half weeks.
5k run with a mile of tabata intervals to end. I would call them wind sprints but there isn't much sprinting going on at that stage!
