The SDF in Cornwall 14/15 April '07
We had the pleasure of Stuart Rider's (SDF senior instructor) company last weekend in Falmouth,Cornwall.
The weekend began on Saturday morning with an edged weapon defence seminar.Stuart's stuff is "SDF with a Senshido influence" .VERY effective, and trained with zero compliance. If you get a chance to train with Stu i strongly recommend you take it,he's a very accomplished instructor!
Saturday afternoon saw a Level one instructors course,we now have 3 more qualified SDF instructors in Cornwall.Everyone involved got stuck in and made the most of it.A BIG well done to Keith,Wayne, and Luke(the new instructors).
Stu was kind enough to stay for another instructors course on the sunday which saw Keith and myself qualify at the "Kids and young adults self defence" level.
A brilliant weekend, and a big thank you to Stu for travelling from one end of the country to the other to visit us .
I'm waiting for some photos of the event to get to me,when they do i'll post a few.

Nice one guys ... well done
Stu is certainly one of the TOP SDF instructors.. in fact I am blessed with TWO Stuarts (Cutty and Rider) and they are both spot on
thansk for the report Ade.. I had Keith Quigley on the phone 'tother day.. he was raving about the week-end..
feeling well pleased once again with the sheer QUALITY we have in the SDF

The pleasure really was all mine Ade.
Although numbers were low we were taking this as a stepping stone for bigger and better things for the SDF down in that part of the world.
Really is great to see people getting stuck into their training and taking on board what is being taught.
Makes travelling the long distances worth it.
Hopefully this will help kick start the action down in Cornwall and there will
be regular events for you all to attend.
Stu
ps - sorting photos out. Will email them to you today.

Just wanted to add, especially in light of the letter that was in a recent edition MAI and for anyone who thinks these certificates are given away.
The day started with an edged weapons course at 10am until 1pm.
Then those who were taking the level. SDF Instructors course had just enough time for a quick bite to eat and drink and then it was straight onto the instructors course. This did not finish until gone 6pm.
These guys really got stuck in and trained hard, they were already battered and bruised from the EWD session but put their all into the next session as well.
Hats off to them, these certificates are well deserved.
