No Doubt No Fear
This three disc set of DVD’s is one of the best that I have seen, there is a very relaxed, unscripted approach to presenting the material that only comes from someone who really knows what they are talking about and has the confidence and ability to convey that to the viewer, in my opinion these dvd’s hit the mark on every count.
Bob Spour uses his 40 years experience of martial arts, experience and training in the military and also experience of NLP and acting to present a very informative set of dvd’s.
Disc 1.
On this first volume Bob explains his 10 principles of self protection:
1. Awareness.
2. Surprise.
3. Decisiveness.
4. Stay upright.
5. Physical conditioning.
6. Control.
7. Self belief.
8. Aggression (forward drive).
9. Ruthlessness.
10. Keep it simple.
Bob goes into each principle in some depth using physical demonstration to emphasise his point.
All of the principles come back to good awareness.
I like Bobs attitude of being angry at someone who has had the nerve to attack you, this helps to switch on your aggression and forward drive which is often enough to end a confrontation before it gets to the physical.
Throughout Bob displays all of the combative tenets of artifice, shock, force and vehemence.
Disc 2.
The first part of this volume is presented by Richie Grannon, www.streetfightsecrets.com .
Richie covers what has become commonly known as “the fence” he looks at stance, physical fence, psychological fence, different ranges and pre-emption.
This dvd really looks in depth at controlling your space and your environment, this is an area that is often skimmed over in order to get to more exciting stuff, I was pleased to see how deep Richie went into this and how much information was imparted.
Other areas covered were communication skills, physical as well as verbal, using re-direction to de-escalate a situation.
It then switches back to Bob and Richie as they discuss and explain the concepts of dehumanising an attacker, positive internal dialogue to prepare yourself for confrontation, they look at acquiring the correct state and building your ability by modelling success.
Disc 3.
This disc looks at using NLP techniques to improve your chances of survival.
Reframing is the main tool discussed, Bob and Richie explain how you can change your perception of an event to create a better outcome for yourself, how you can utilise visualisation techniques and apply this back to the self protection principles from the first volume of the set.
They also look at role playing, belief systems and perceptions of fear.
There are no physical techniques on this disc but this is the one that completes the package and binds the whole thing together.
I highly recommend this set, it is just the kind of information that we need to be getting out there.
