Stumbled across this wrestling forum Dave.

They seem a knowledgable and fairly friendly lot. Lots of good information and book references on the old hookers, shooters and rippers, especially in the Lou Thesz forum.

I'm picking up a lot from just looking around and searching in the Lou Thesz forum on names like Billy Riley, Hackenscmidt and Asserati. Haven't registered yet though.

Its very interesting Chris.. but obviously VERY USA biased..

Cant comment with any real authority on the Assirati stuff, but some of the stuff printed is very wrong in my book

Assirati was stripped of his title simply because he didnt defend it in the minimum time period, he was abroad chasing Londos of the time NOT Thesz..

The title WASNT given to Crabtree (Big Daddy) but Ernie Baldwin... when Assirati came back to the UK .. he took the title back off Baldwin,

some of the other stuff was a bit OTT as well

but an interesting site all the same

Yep, it is very U.S. focused but they do give some serious respect to guys like Billy Riley and Karl Gotch. Got an interesting read out of the comments regarding british hookers and rippers.

Interesting that they have links to guys like Billy Robinson. I suppose that's because Thesz himself ran a forum there.

Billy Robinson was considered by EVERY single wrestler I spoke to as the very best they knew.. but Assirati was always mentioned in the same vein.

Robinson had to go abroad to get some serious fights..

I met Assirati in 1977 ish.. he was arrogant but his exuded power even in his 70's.. his handshake could have turned raw potatoes into Cadbury's Smash
