I'm all aches and pains at the moment, and not really up for hard work on the weights. So i thought i'd try something...

I've had an interest in what John Mckean call "constant weight training" for a while, and this seems an ideal time to give it a go.

http://www.dragondoor.com/articles/on-constant-weight-training/default.aspx

so here's what i intend to do;

Monday to Friday

32kg kettlebell : one armed bent straight to one-armed clean and press ...6 times alternating sides
ab wheel roll out (on knees) chin to the floor...6 times

(6 reps of each is about 75% of a max set)

both done slowly,deliberately,and strict.

I'll do it for a fews months and see what happens.

The theory behind it is that at the moment it will take 75% of my "total effort" to do this...after,say,3 months of doing this there will be some slow strength adaptation and the same moves should only take, for example,40% of my "total effort".I may add reps at some point,or i may stay with these reps until it becomes "almost" effortless. We'll see.

any comments?

How long did you do that for Jag,and how'd you get on with it?

Much improvement?

Happy with the results?

I heard Dan john mention constant weight training in one of his vids,he reckons its a good un.

Looking forward to hearing your results.

No Buster i meant one armed bent row Smile ,'bell goes back to the floor then get's cleaned (and pressed)

n.b.I've dropped one armed bent row as of yesterday,it aggravates my elbows too much.....and switched from alternating singles on the C&P to alternating sets of 1,2,3,and 4.

...if that makes sense...

I did it for a fair while and the premise was good but like a lot of stuff that went on back in the day (as it was a fair while ago) it fell by the wayside. Also I found it fairly frustrating that I couldn't do the pistols.

I suppose you could say that I was able to do one arm push ups after it.

The theory was that you start with whatever you could do one arm wise, ie if you couldn't do them on the floor you'd do them on a bed or half way up the wall or something, then gradually work up to doing them properly, then when that started getting too easy start making them harder still by doing them on a box or one legged etc.

The same applied with the pistols, I never got past the part where I had to sit down onto a box.

It comes from a good source though. That Russian bloke Pavel. Also the doing 5 of everything methods has stayed with me. I used it for when I was working on pull ups also, trying for five a day or two everytime I walked past the pull up bar
