Re: JamieO'Keefe
As I put in the other section . I didn train with Jamie, I taught him.. but that was several years ago .. (late 1980's infact) but he is one of the very best in my opinion
he does mainly hard impact stuff. some nice kicks, some face biting and head butting, and he his a STAR at the double slap and the 'human baseball bat'
he is without doubt one of the very tops in the RBSD world

Hi Dave, I'm aware of what the double slap and human baseball bat strikes are. I always thought that although the H.B.B technique looks as though it would certainly do the business a slap to the same area might be easier to perform.
I've never seen anybody actually use the double palm strike for real.
What are your thoughts on both these strikes and their success rate
''for real'', have you seen anybody use them or used them yourself in a real go etc?
Thanks, Pete

Re: JamieO'Keefe
One of my students many years ago did the double slap to great effect.. I dont know anyone who has used the HBB other than Jamie and Micky 'Neal?? (one of his original top students)
Both rated it highly, and knowing Jamie as well as I do, I have no doubts he is telling it 100% like it is..
But lets face it, we all have an arsenal pf techniques we believe in but havent really used for real..
Othert han the fantasy armchair warriors of course who seem to have used every bloody move there is

Speak for yourself Dave, I don't teach anything I haven't used for real, and I can't remember ever being accused of being an armchair warrior...
But I know the point you were trying to make.

Ha Ha .. nice one Mick.. I should have guessed you would have jumped on that point mate.
But you were (sorry still ARE) astute enough to know what I meant.. but for those who DIDNT..
I dont know how many techniques and varieties I know.. but I certainly havent used them all for real.. however that doesnt detract from the fact that I believe that they could or should work in a real situation
I havent had enough 'real' goes to have tried out a plethora of moves.. but others have, and if you trust the people who did use them, then you can assume they have some validity
all the best Mick

Thanks for the reply Dave.
Yes, I get what you mean. Maybe I/You/We, whoever hasn't used a technique ourselves for real but somebody else, whose word we trust or has been witnessed to have..etc, has so it has been proven to work, just not by us.
I have no doubts about Jamie's real experience, battletestedness (sic) so don't doubt that the strikes work for him but personally I don't think I'd be comfortable using them, prefer more bread and butter stuff, but then again with his experience they are probably bread and butter stuff for him too.

Re: JamieO'Keefe
its a kind of downwards strike with a stiff arm using the forearm to hit the area where the neck joins the shoulders, kind of around the trapezious level
usually thumb down and striking from high to impact.. great strike

Re: JamieO'Keefe
Jake i've been on the receiving end of that strike from Dave at a seminar.
It's one of those strikes that just seems to hurt everywhere at once! Nice!
