Re: seminar 22nd june
I'll try for a reivew of sorts.
It was good.
Now for the longer version.
The morning dealt with a range of threats from the 'pushy bloke' sort to robbery and serious domestic violence. Both the threats and responses were based on years of research into what actually happens and how people respond. The afternoon was all about rape attmepts from drug rape to violence with and without a weapon, and again was based very firmly in reality.
Quality? Very high but that's a given for Dave's courses. As to the general roughness, well, I have no skin on my knees or elbows, my right shoulder is entirely green/yellow and there are many odd lumps and bruises from praticing what we were learning.
I was mainly the aggressor when we were training, (my training partner and I came to an agreement - I'd pretend to be aggressive and she'd pretend to be a woman. It's funny if you're us). Point is, I was trying hard enough that Rachel had to hurt me and give me some good lumps, and what we were doing worked against that sort of resistance.
Random snippets from the day - I enjoyed the bit where Chris pretty much kicked Stu's tooth out, mainly because I wasn't involved. We stumbled about fighting, crashed into stuff, tripped other partners up, got involved in a 4-way collision at one point, were horrified, laughed a lot, got to see some of our mates and went home sore.
Oh, and we learned some useful and practical things too.
It's all good.

That was the main reason I enjoyed it - because I wasn't in line for the payback!
