Nabebuta
Hi Dave, I hope you and all your family are well.
I am busy reading a judo book called "The Pyjama Game" (I'll send you it when I've finished it if you haven't already read it as it is excellent) and in it there is a one sentence mention of a martial art called Nabebuta and how it is an art designed to protect yourself using saucepan lids!
Have you come across this? Does anyone actually do it nowadays?
Thanks
Pete

Re: Nabebuta
I wish I could have found some pics PP!
I have done a bit of looking myself as Dave isn't around and it seems that Nabebuta is the name of the saucepan lid which in turns becomes a weapon.
I have found nothing to say that a whole art is based on saucepan lids so I assume that the mention in the book is either incorrect or I misunderstood it (which is more than likely).
I will try using cast iron pan lids as weapons as soon as possible
