Id just like to say merry christmas and thanks for everything in 2006 Dave.
Your knowledge and training and the support and guidance given by yourself through the SDF has been priceless.

Re: Merry Christmas & Thanks
I second that!
Dave I feel honoured to be a member of the SDF, the option to actually talk with the head of the federation and ask for advice first hand is excellent!

Re: Merry Christmas & Thanks
cheers guys, much appreciated.
its a two-way thing though, without members there's no need for a 'head' is there.
all of you have a great xmas and super 2007

Re: Merry Christmas & Thanks
Just chiming in... it's my 37th birthday tomorrow... and I'm all sentimental!
Thanks for, well, everything really. For having an SDF for me to wander into a few years back, for the certificates for me and Rachel so we're not orphans any more, for all the violence and nastiness that's passed through my hands and on to my own students.
I think that my lot at the University have had a handful of incidents this year, from a home invasion (!) to pre-mugging interviews and one stopping a fight type incident (this is just what I know of). Nobody has been hurt - every single one of these incidents has been handled well. Most with 'soft skills'. No ego-driven brawling, no uncecessary violence, and our people came out unscathed.
Highlights of this year include one of my students (a 5' 4" leprechaun) telling me how he tackled a 6' plus cockney who was attacking his mate (who was in turn trying to stop a fight). 'Then I stuck a face bar on him! It were ace!'
Apparently the big cockney made a funny noise and then started screaming to be be let go. When Danny let him go, for some reason he didn't want to resume hostilities...
There was also a day when I was talked into demonstrating aggression projection at a university student retention function, and I made the student retention officer jump by snarling at one of the students (and she knew it was coming, too).
There was a guy at the Mods training day who said: "Oh, you're SDF. You'll be used to getting hit in the head then...." which was amusing, if a bit alarming.
And of course that splendid beating I got fom Karl.
Yeah, pretty good stuff all round.
For next year I have this interview for the police trainer job and a meeting with the university women's officer regarding student safety seminars.
This all happened because of Dave's SDF. So thanks for that Dave. Really.

Re: Merry Christmas & Thanks
Merry Christmas Dave, And thank you for all your advice and help you've given me and everyone else over the year(s)
Merry Christmas to everyone
Enjoy the festive season to the fullest, but be safe,
May the best of 2006
be the worst of 2007
and may the trend continue in 2008.
