most important factors and aspects
What do you consider to be the most important factors when learning or teaching a form of self defence/protection program.
Thanks for your time.

Re: most important factors and aspects
Hi Peter .. how are you mate.
well there are several (not in any specific order)
First make sure they know the differences between the martial arts/sports and self-defence.
explain the three elements of Personal Safety, Self-Protection and Self-Defence.
Teach them that NOT going physical is the first important point.Via awareness, avoidance and escape
Explain the shock value of a surprise attack.
Make them understand the importance of the mental side of it all not just the physical.
Try to get people to 'see' the imminent attack sooner.
Work on taking control of 'space' 'distance' and 'time' from the opponent and back to yourself
Work on projection of aggressions by taking the fears you feel and using their powers back on the attackers
try (if possible) to develop a bloody good right cross or hammer fist or other single shot impact move
above all .. BE HONEST
