nick,
i know you know your tats...

ok, im looking to get sleeves, have quite a few ideas, and have narrowed it down to 3 artists...

1. chris garver, miami ink -who you see on tv
2. scott fieldhouse http://www.zaxflash.com/tattoos.html#
3. boris http://www.boristattoo.zalaszam.hu/galeria_boris_e.html

i cant afford to go to miami at the mo, scott is nearby, and boris is in hungary... i want japanese motive stuff..... i think i like boris the most...but hes in the middle of nowhere in hungary...he might be coming to london sometime as a guest artist..

im also going to go and check out detail daves portfolio, heard good things about him, he did a friend, and one of my wifes tats....not so keen on the stuff on his site tho...

id be interested in your opinion?
cheers mate

Mate,

Sorry, this seemed to slip through the crack.

I'm loathe to recommend any one person in particular. My general guidelines are these...don't just walk in to any tattoo shop as not all tattooists are created equal and think long and hard about what you want to get.

Save the money and get the one from the guy you want as opposed to settling for second best...remember, it's going to be on you a looooong time.

I hear that!!! I am now looking for a cover up job as I went to the wrong guy. To make matters worse, the tattoo in question is a celtic pattern so its very heavy on the black. I think I may need a tattoo of a black cat on a dark night to cover the damn thing. Rolling Eyes

Get it lasered. Two or three sessions will lighten the black ink enough that you'll be able to cover it with a lot of other stuff.

Dont know about the UK but here now you can get 30 min laser sessions for about 150 dollars.

That hadn't crossed my mind, thanks Nick.

A quick search has revealed an outfit called "Laserase" based in the grounds of the local hospital so I will look into that.

thanks nick

although its not relevant to you peter, cliff white in new york, who's a well known artist has this great program for former gang members to remove gang tattoos in exchange for some time spent doing some community based service like serving meals for homeless.... great idea
