Hi everyone, just wanted to say the first of Dave's seminars was yesterday, and i left aching but grinning afterwards.
That pretty much tells you all you need to know.

Re: ASMAA seminars to come
Hi Ade, the morning session consisted of knife defence, neutralising the knife then moving on to the attacker to show him the error of his ways a la Mr Turton
knife movement covered stabbing, cutting and slashing, slashing being the movement that produced the highest risk to endangerment which meant training the mind to accept this as a distinct probability (as opposed to only a possibility) when seeking to evade the sharp edge swinging at you as you deal with the incoming threat/attacker.
The afternoon session was Dave's intro into Goshinkwai, the principles of the movement, dynamics and execution from being confronted to you walking away safe leaving the other guy wishing he had stayed in to watch Strictly on the TV instead.
All in all it was a pretty physical, up close and personal days training with plenty of decent contact on your training partner, not so hard as to injure, but hard enough to see the effect of what you have done and see where it will end up when you crank the dial up to 11 (if required), also the advantage of feeling these strikes blows, kicks etc is invaluable as it will allow the mind to tune them out in a real controntation so that the shock of being hit doesnt stop you in your tracks. The right mental preparation and attitude are key if you are in a situation where you can't use a soft skill to simply walk away.
Dave - how did I do in recapping what you taught??, if it's a load of old cobblers I will blame the repeated blows to my head

Re: ASMAA seminars to come
Great days training, fantastic to see new faces amongst the old.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself, even when I was accidentally on purpose thrown into the base of a BOB! All was well... Dave had been aiming to have my head hit the base instead of my back so no harm done!!

Re: ASMAA seminars to come
To be fair Chris I think Dave may have asked you to stand elsewhere before he did that to you
Still it a soft landing no matter what
I may have the footage on that one mate, will check and get back to you on that one, even if it's for no other reason than to say how funny you looked bouncing around
