over the weekend another officer and i approached 3 teenagers who were up to no good in a neighborhood where we rarely go. as i walked up to them, the one in the middle was rubbing his eyes and scratching his nose. i instantly thought about what you taught us in class. i immediately walked behind him. i told him to keep his hands out and then i reached for his waistline. he said he had 2 knives on him. sure as the world a double edged knife in one pocket and a freakin' bayonet in the other. street vs sport, i'm glad i started krav maga. thanks!

Re: Police officer student...
Cool... are we to assume he's referring to grooming indicator?
Good on them glad it worked out safely...

Roadkill,
Yes mate...exactly. Can't believe it but the academy never teaches them stuff like that. He's a brown belt in BJJ who made the jump after a trashed knee and is now singing our praises.
There seems to be a war on law enforcement in this country at the moment so they need all the help they can get.

Well at least not the majority... but there are a few... Southnarc helps spread that word..
Re: Police officer student...
Good job on both sides here, Nick, meaning you teaching the material and him applying it.
It is good to see that you teach this kind of stuff. It is a very important point but sadly also a very neglected one, especially in the civilian sector. As roadkill mentioned, it is good, that since Southnarcs DVD and article it is on the radar of a little more people.

Could have been me, hay-fever season just started over here ...the one in the middle was rubbing his eyes and scratching his nose.

Sorry Nick this is a new one on me. is rubbing our eyes and scratching your nose a sign of being armed with blades?

Re: Police officer student...
Nope...it's one of the pre-fight indicators that also demonstrates nervousness or deception.

Re: Police officer student...
Ah gotcha
I recall from the distant past something like that. I think it was cos your mate went straight for his back pockets. Obviously he had good cause though

I did Southnarc's ECQC here in Fl in Dec. What a blast... I was sore for days and still have some simunition scars... lol I used the course as my challenge after the big surgery.
Re: Police officer student...
You lot ave such fun in the US I only shot a pistol once in my life and it was at a bowling skittle, never done anything like simunition. Always meant to do a firearms course in America. One day
