DIY punchbag chin station
My Mum the diamond she is came across a punchbag complete with chains and in very good nick for a £10, brilliant i thought and happily accepted said punchbag and then panicked as i had no where to hang it, my neighbour is a scaffolder by trade so i was hoping to maybe pick up scaffold pipe from him or one of his sources turns out this seems bloody hard to do so my idea of creating an all steel frame went out the window.
My next idea and the one im currently using is 2 4x4 posts 8ft in length dug 1.5 feet into the ground and postcreted, with hindsight a 10 foot length would have better but again i was having trouble sourcing them, i mucked up my measurements and put my intial holes at six inches from the top which was the right height for a ten year old to hit a bag but useless for me, the next holes where 2 inches i believe from the top using a 32 mm spade bit, there was a massive knot in one of the posts and the spade bit dug through to the top of the posts so i ended up just sawing the top of the holes so the bar just drops in rather than been threaded through, a post cap is going to be added to keep water out of the holes and im trying to source some rubber mattin gut to the size of the holes and then glued in place to save wear and tear where the bar meets

the wood.
Because i couldn't get the height i needed i have had to take the chains of the bag and i plan on digging betwen the posts to give me the height i need, the holse will be filled with gravel for drainage and then a wooden platform will be on top of it.
The posts are quite heavily braced and seem to be doing the job so far, the bar used intially was a stripped down olympic bar but i have since found a metal fabricator who sold me a six foot length of handrail for a tenner and it seems solid enough.
